DVA-contracted Community Nursing provider
Care for those who served, and their families.
We provide nursing and personal care at home for veterans, war widows and widowers through DVA Community Nursing, at no cost to eligible Veteran Card holders. It’s care we’re proud to give.

It’s personal to us
Inspired by our grandfather, Ray Payne OAM.
Ray Payne OAM, grandfather of our founders Josh and Lachlan, is a proud Vietnam veteran and a passionate advocate for his fellow servicemen and women. Through his organisation, Frontline Veterans, Ray has supported more than 3,400 veterans, and he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service.
His legacy of service, compassion and advocacy shapes how we care for veterans and their families today.
What DVA Community Nursing covers
DVA Community Nursing provides clinically needed care in your home from our Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Care Workers. Depending on your needs, this can include:
- Nursing care: wound care, continence support, medication management and regular health checks.
- Personal care: help with showering, dressing and personal hygiene.
- Palliative care at home: working with your GP and the specialist palliative care team. Read about end of life care.
A Registered Nurse plans your care around your goals, and your GP stays involved throughout.
Who can get Community Nursing
You may be eligible if you have an assessed clinical need and hold one of these cards:
- Veteran Card, All Conditions (Gold Card). This includes war widows and widowers who receive the War Widow(er)’s Pension.
- Veteran Card, Specific Conditions (White Card), for care related to your accepted conditions. We’ll confirm your eligibility with DVA before care starts.
There’s no cost to eligible Veteran Card holders for DVA Community Nursing.
How to get started
Get a referral
Ask your GP, nurse practitioner or hospital team for a referral to Stable Home Care for DVA Community Nursing. Not sure how? Call us and we’ll explain the next step to your doctor.
Meet your nurse
A Registered Nurse visits you at home, talks with you about your needs and creates a care plan built around your goals.
Start your care
Your familiar team starts visiting, and your Care Partner is there for any questions along the way.
A referral from your GP lasts 12 months. A referral from hospital lasts 6 weeks, after which your GP can refer you again if you still need care.
More support at home
Community Nursing is for clinical and personal care. If you’d also like help with cleaning, shopping, transport, social outings or respite, there are other options:
Support at Home
Veterans and war widows or widowers can use Support at Home alongside DVA services, as long as the services don’t overlap. We can provide both and coordinate them for you. Support at Home contributions may apply. Read about Support at Home.
Veterans’ Home Care
DVA’s Veterans’ Home Care program offers help with domestic tasks, personal care, respite and home and garden maintenance through other DVA providers. Call the Veterans’ Home Care Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450.
Private care
You can add extra services by paying privately, with the same team and our published prices. Read about private care.

Common questions
Do I have to pay for DVA Community Nursing?
No. There’s no cost to eligible Veteran Card holders. If you add services through Support at Home or privately, those may have costs, and we’ll always explain them first.
I’m a war widow. Can I get Community Nursing?
If you receive the War Widow(er)’s Pension, you’ll hold a Gold Card, so you can get Community Nursing where there’s a clinical need and a referral.
Can I have DVA services and Support at Home at the same time?
Yes, as long as the two don’t provide the same service. We’ll help you put the right mix in place and coordinate it.
Does Community Nursing include cleaning or meals?
No. Community Nursing covers clinical and personal care. For cleaning, meals, transport or respite, see the options under More support at home.
